Grants that strengthen the nonprofits Pinellas County counts on

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Pinellas Community Foundation (PCF) awards grants to carefully vetted 501(c)(3) organizations across the county. Most grants run on a regular schedule with clear windows and deadlines, so you can plan ahead.

Funding priorities

Four areas the Board of Governors funds first

The PCF Board of Governors has identified four core areas as priorities in its discretionary grantmaking. The wide range of nonprofits PCF funds reflects the depth and diversity of the charitable vision shared by thoughtful, values-driven donors.

Grants also reach affordable housing, youth and families, environmental stewardship, women’s issues, people with disabilities, college scholarships, arts and cultural enrichment, and childhood hunger.

What does PCF fund?

The PCF Board of Governors has identified four priority funding areas: improving health, advancing education, promoting arts and culture, and enhancing quality of life. If you have questions about whether your program or organization fits PCF’s mission, please reach out.

Most PCF grant processes are restricted to organizations that serve Pinellas County. PCF is also a member of the Tampa Bay Resiliency Fund, which offers grants in response to natural disasters and other region-wide events. For the latest on available grants, sign up for the nonprofit newsletter.

It depends on the program. Some applications are reviewed by members of the PCF Board of Governors. Others, like the Senior Citizens Services grants, are reviewed by community members with specific expertise. Every reviewer receives the expectations for awarded applicants, the instructions given during the application window, and whatever else they need to make an informed assessment.

PCF uses an online grant portal for the entire application process. When the application period opens, click “Apply” from your Applicant Dashboard to begin.

Make sure your portal account is linked to an active, monitored inbox and that the portal’s email address (ad***********@*************ce.com) is on your organization’s safe list. Check your spam filter regularly during an application window so you do not miss an update.

Specific requirements are set in your award agreement. For most programs a final report is due one year after the award. Senior Citizens Services grants require a report at 6 months into the grant period and again one year after funds are awarded.

Beyond grants

Long-term tools for nonprofits

PCF supports nonprofits not only through grants but through funding tools that strengthen sustainability and impact. Whether you are planning for the future, building a reserve, or launching a major initiative, these flexible options can help.

Endowment

A fund permanently set aside and invested to grow over time, earning revenue to fund your organization’s needs. Availability and use of the funds are permanently restricted.

Capital campaign fund

A fund for a specific charitable fundraising purpose. PCF safely invests your campaign funds to grow revenue for a capital project, makes it easy to direct donors to stock transfers, real estate gifts, and other planned gifts, and safeguards the fund for the project’s purpose.
